Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss Review

The name ‘lip gloss’ is almost deceiving as Benefit’s new lip product has a sticky-free formula that feels more like a balm. Gone are the days of a mouthful of hair on a windy day, instead Benefit has created a truly intriguing lip product with the soft texture and shimmery finish.

With nourishing ingredients such as shea butter, the Ultra Plush Lip Gloss’ won’t leave your lips feeling dry either.

There’s more to the lip gloss than just a good formula though. Each gloss is paired with one of Benefit’s best selling powders including bronzed Hoola and pretty Dandelion. For a pop of colour to compliment your summer tan opt for Coralista!

Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss is £14.50 and will be available from Benefitcosmetics.co.uk from July.

Rating: 10/10 – Teaming a balm with a gloss is genius and there’s a shade to suit everyone.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain Review

Finding the balance between a gloss, a stain and a lipstick is no mean feat, but Yves Saint Laurent might have just nailed it with the new Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain.

With the colour effect of a lipstick, the finish of a lip gloss and the longevity of a lipstain, this is beauty product is revolutionary and definitely one for your make-up bag, especially if you want to tap into the bright lips beauty trend for summer.

The consistency is like a gloss, but smooth and stick-free. While the glossy finish doesn't last much longer than your standard lip gloss, the colour does and lips are stained for the majority of the day. The formula isn't packed full of nourishing ingredients, but lips don't feel or look dry and cracked at the end of the day. Interestingly, unlike some lipstains YSL's has a fruity, almost raspberry flavour, which definitely adds a little more luxury to this beauty product.

On first glance the beauty product could be mistaken for a nail polish with the boxy packaging, however the wand gives it away. The flat, slightly slanted brush with a pointed tip makes application quick, precise and easy to do while you're on the go.

At the moment there are 18 different shades ranging from statement plums and classic reds to soft, feminine pinks. Compared to standard lipstains, the price is relatively reasonable for what you get, but the key is choosing a shade that you will definitely wear.

Yves Saint Laurent's Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain is £22.50 and available from Yslbeauty.co.uk.

Rating: 9/10 - As lip products go this is definitely one to invest in if you like having colour on your lips without having to constantly reapply.

New CID Cosmetics i Gloss Lip Gloss Review

Essex-style white packaging with a built in mirror and bright light to help make applying your gloss on the go is all part of the lure of New CID Cosmetics. The range is designed by make-up artists for make-up artists, which promises expert products for affordable prices.

Gimmicky packaging aside, the product itself is actually pretty good. The ‘Honey Pot’ shade offers a touch of colour with a high shine and shimmer. Impressively the gloss lasts for at least five hours, even surviving the glass of water test, and after two days of constant wear lips feel moisturised. However with this you do have to settle with a sticky consistency.

New CID Cosmetics i-gloss is available in 11 shades from Newidcosmetics.com for £16.

Rating: 8/10 – The product lasts, but it’s sticky consistency makes it tricky wearing your hair down on a windy day.
